- Chat: One Effort setting (Auto, Quick, Balanced, Thorough) works with any model; Metis says when your choice is lower or higher than Auto would pick, and when a model is thinking in circles.
- Chat: Watch the model think while it writes; each step it takes reads as a plain sentence, in order, and a reply that stopped or never sent is marked.
- Chat: Each reply names the model that wrote it, chat titles follow the chat as it moves on, attached files show as a chip, and a model you switch to stays switched after a restart.
- Chat: Every message shows when it was sent, archived chats can be brought back, and a second chat on the same model says it is waiting behind the first.
- Chat: One Metis chat follows you from page to page beside the page you are on.
- Chat: A reply that changed files ends with one line counting the files and lines changed.
- Chat: Send to another chat puts a marked quote in that chat's box, sent only when you press Send.
- Chat: Typing / in the box lists your installed skills.
- Metis's own app: In a chat, Metis can read and add to your calendar, notes and contacts, and answer questions about Metis itself: its pages, settings, models and downloads.
- Metis's own app: Ask it to switch the model, start a download or change a setting; it asks on a card first, and you can say yes from your phone.
- Schedules: Make a schedule from a chat, with its own Effort, and a schedule that watches a folder cannot set itself off over and over.
- Mail: An email opens on its own page, pictures load only when you say so, one press sends once, and each account can have its own signature.
- Search: Search reads the pages it finds, lists its sources under the answer, says plainly when the answer was not in what it read, and you can watch the research as it happens.
- Search: Paste a video link and Metis reads its captions.
- Phone: Your phone talks straight to your computer when it can, which is faster, and says which way it is connected.
- Phone: While your computer is off, your chats stay readable on the phone, and messages you type wait and send once it is back.
- Phone: Phone pages fit the iPhone Duo folded or open, you sign in with a passkey, and a laptop or tablet pairs the way a phone does.
- Account: An optional account on metis.wtf: sign in, see your devices, or delete your account and data; it shows in Settings.
- Models: Get models downloads with one press, the right size for this computer already picked, and checks a new model by itself once it is downloaded.
- Models: Best here picks one model for each job, with an estimated speed, a choice of which of your computers gets it, and Add a file from disk.
- Models: Your models opens on the jobs (who chats, who does the work, who plans and checks); Computers and layout shows what runs where, with one-press presets and loading on a schedule.
- Models: Choose how much of this computer Metis may use: its memory and which graphics cards (on a Mac, how much memory).
- Models: A chat that reaches its length limit offers a Make the window bigger button, and a long chat reopens in seconds.
- Models: When another model takes the graphics card, a chat's place is saved to disk and restored when its model comes back.
- Computers: Metis can run models on your other computers, or take over a model server you already run when it does as well or better.
- Brain: What you have told Metis about yourself is in every chat, and it finds a fact even when you ask in other words.
- Brain: One fact, one entry: Metis offers duplicates for you to merge, and a document you attach is kept as a source with what it describes listed under it.
- Brain: One short memory line per reply, Keep or Bring back on each memory, and a refused pin says why.
- Files: Ask for something with several files in a chat with no folder and Metis offers a project folder; Projects lists every folder Metis has worked in.
- Files: Delete and move files with Undo (deleted files go to the Recycle Bin or Trash), and big jobs or jobs outside the folder ask first.
- Files: Work in folders on your other computers: pick the computer, then the folder.
- Documents: One upload door for documents and pictures; a document's text is read out with its page numbers, and a file that cannot be read says why.
- Settings: Settings is in named groups with a search, saves as you change things, and has a Keyboard section listing every key.
- Settings: Start fresh removes one kind of data at a time (setup, chats, memory, keys), each named with its cost, behind one typed confirm.
- Settings: Start at sign-in, the window frame, the update reminder and scoped access tokens each have a row.
- Look: Glass and springs: see-through panels, sheets you can drag and flick, and the window drawn on the built-in graphics so your models keep the main card.
- Look: Pages show their outline at once while they load, Home has a status strip and your computers and phones, and the tour can be replayed from Help or Settings.
- Notices: Desktop notices are real Windows toasts with sound, quiet hours apply, and a Mac uses its own notification centre.
- Updates: A What's new page after an update shows what changed.
- Safety: Uninstall asks whether to remove your data too; a copy of your data is made before a migration; an older version will not open data a newer one wrote; a full disk and a crash each say so plainly.
- Setup: If Setup finds no model server it offers to install one, suggests one model, keeps the computers you added, and shows the reply when it checks that chat works.
Fixed
- Updating from 0.1.15 or 0.1.16 keeps your chats, settings and models: an update from an older Windows build no longer refuses to open the window over a missing owner record.
- Uninstalling on Windows after an in-place update removes everything again.
- A model that fits on your card is started without filling your computer's memory, a model that spills into slower memory is said, and what already uses the card is counted before a size is picked.
- Turn off really stops every model server and says what is still running; each model shows whether it is really loaded.
- Edits work on the first try more often, a CRLF file is matched, a file is never left half-written, and a failed edit says why.
- A failed download, start or crash shows the real reason with a Copy button, and a reply that gets stuck says what it is waiting for.
- Report a problem saves the report to your Desktop when it cannot be sent, one press sends one report covering the whole chat, and it never overwrites an earlier one.
- Reports never include your mail password, other websites cannot read your contacts, and hidden characters in an email or web page cannot pass as instructions.
- "Always allow" now means it, and the button says exactly what it covers.
- On a Mac, Metis reaches the models on your other computers at home, and the privacy question names Metis itself.
Changed
- Updates now come from git.metis.wtf, bug reports go to reports.metis.wtf, and the push contact is metis.wtf: everything Metis moves to its own domain. The old stik.wtf names keep answering until 12-01.
- Short menu names, details shown as neat fields, and the same units everywhere (speed in words a second, chat length in pages).
- Search tells you once that pages are fetched from this computer, so those sites can see its address.
- The installers are not signed yet. On Windows press More info, then Run anyway; on a Mac right-click Metis and choose Open.
